Engineering Studies provides a strong background in the field of engineering, along with supporting courses in math and science, while allowing more flexibility to explore other topics of interest than is possible with the Bachelor of Science in Engineering. The Engineering Studies major has two tracks, the Sciences track and the Broad Perspectives track. The Engineering Studies major is not ABET accredited.

Engineering Studies - Sciences Track
The Engineering Studies - Sciences track provides a strong foundation for graduate work in engineering fields, especially when combined with coursework in other sciences (for instance computer or environmental sciences).
- CSC 140 - Foundations of Computer Science (1)
- MAT 120 - Calculus of a Single Variable Part II (1) OR MAT 121 - Calculus of a Single Variable (1)
- MAT 122 - Calculus of Several Variables (1)
- PHY 225 - General Physics I (1)
- Choose 8 courses, at least 2 at the 300 level, out of: MAT 221 , MAT 236 , CHE 121 , PHY 275 , PHY 245 , any EGR course numbered 131 or higher.
Possible Combinations:
- Electrical Emphasis: PHY 245 , PHY 275 , EGR 200 , EGR 270 , EGR 311 , EGR 362 , MAT 221 , MAT 236
- Mechanical/Structural Emphasis: CHE 121 , EGR 131 , EGR 231 , EGR 285 , EGR 240 , EGR 271 , EGR 331 , EGR 332
- Engineering Fundamentals Emphasis: EGR 131 , EGR 231 , EGR 271 , EGR 285 , EGR 346 , EGR 352 , MAT 221 , MAT 236 - EGR 385 - Engineering Design Project (1)
Engineering Studies - Broad Perspectives Track
The Engineering Science - Broad Perspectives track is appropriate for students interested in engineering design and areas adjacent to engineering.
- MAT 120 - Calculus of a Single Variable Part II (1) OR MAT 121 - Calculus of a Single Variable (1)
- PHY 225 - General Physics I (1)
- EGR 131 - Introduction to Engineering Design (1)
- Choose 6 courses, at least 1 at the 300 level, out of the following STEM courses: CHE 121 , MAT 122 , PHY 275 , PHY 245 , any EGR course numbered 132 or higher.
Possible Combinations:
- Manufacturing Emphasis: CHE 121 , EGR 231 , EGR 240 , EGR 271 , EGR 285 ,EGR 331
- Electrical Emphasis: MAT 122 , PHY 245 , PHY 275 , EGR 200 , EGR 270 , EGR 311
- Experimental/Quality Engineering Emphasis: PHY 245 , EGR 231 , EGR 285 , EGR 240 , EGR 271 , EGR 346 - EGR 385 - Engineering Design Project (1)
- 3 courses, including one at the 300-level, from a single department outside of STEM. Students should consult a faculty member in the non-STEM department about these courses.
