Sustainability, Climate Change, and Geology Minor

The greatest challenges we face as a society arguably all involve human impacts on our environment resulting from massive growth in global population and rising standards of living. The curriculum of this minor examines these issues through geological perspectives on water and mineral resources, climate, and life.

Requirements

A total of seven course as listed below:

GEO 122 - Climate Change (1)
GEO 125 - Earth Resource Sustainability (1) or GEO 200
GEO 130 - Earth and Life through Time (1)
GEO 260 - Geographic Information Systems (1)
GEO 320 - Hydrogeology (1)
GEO 322 - Advanced Paleoclimatology (1)
Sustainability or climate-related Geology Course at or above the 200-Level: can include traditional courses that intersect with climate and/or sustainability, such as (i) Sedimentology/Stratigraphy (GEO 224), Mineralogy (GEO 212), or Quantitative Paleobiology (GEO 317); (ii) research courses such as GEO 390 or GEO 485; or (iii) an internship experience taken for credit (e.g., GEO 280).
