A minimum of 11.25 courses. At least four of these must be 300-level MAT courses or above.*

***Students majoring in Mathematics and pursuing a Secondary Education Certification take EDU 483  as their capstone experience to replace MAT 485 . Additionally, Mathematics majors pursuing a Secondary Education Certification must take MAT 231 . This can count as the “Additional MAT elective.”

Senior Capstone Project:

The capstone experience (MAT 502  & MAT 485 ) for a Major in Mathematics emphasizes experiential learning and is a writing intensive course. These courses comprise an individual creative project completed in a cooperative learning environment. (Not required for Math majors who are receiving certification for secondary education.  EDU 483  serves as the capstone and replaces MAT 485 ).  Students double majoring in Mathematics and Applied Statistics or Data Science may petition the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to substitute STA 502  and STA 485  for the capstone requirement in Mathematics if the capstone project contains sufficient mathematical content.
