French Minor

Requirements

A minimum of five course credits from the FRE program which must include:

• FRE 301 - Composition and Conversation (1)
• FRE 303 - Cultures of France and Francophone World (1) OR FRE 302 Francophone Culture Abroad (Advanced)  (Students are encouraged to take both courses if possible. The second course may count as an elective in French above the 205 level).
• FRE 311 - Introduction to Literature in French (1) OR FRE 312 - Introduction to French and Francophone Film (1)  (Students are encouraged to take both courses if possible. The second course may count as an elective in French above the 205 level).
• Two additional electives in French above the 205 level, with the following possible exceptions: The two electives may include a maximum of one upper-level (200 or above) course taken from another program/department, approved beforehand by the French program as relevant to the minor.  Similarly, one 200- or 300-level course offered by the French program but taught in English may count as an elective if approved beforehand by the French program.  Either way, a total of no more than one of these two electives may be a course taught in a language other than French.
