INT 106 - Gaming: Rhetorical Strategies and Cultural Interpretations (W) (1)This course focuses on rhetorical strategies, encouraging students to understand the importance of audience, context, and genre, to be deliberate in their compositional choices, and to communicate effectively and meaningfully across a range of rhetorical situations. Through experiences gaming, social inquiry, and cultural analysis, we will explore the elements and expectations of gameplay, presentations of self, cultural representations, boundary marking practices of inclusion and exclusion, globalization/localization, and changes in gaming cultures.
Additional note: This course will provide extra academic support and intensive preparation for the demands of writing at the college level. It is designed for students who have not done much academic writing in English in high school, who are English language learners, or who lack confidence in their writing. Not open to students who have previously completed a First-Year Writing Course. (First Year Writing Seminar (FYW))
