EGR 200 - Electronics, Ethics, and Society (SYS) (1)Electronic devices, such as cell phones, medical monitors, and web cams, all have the ability to greatly enhance our lives but they also have the potential for abuse, especially in terms of violating personal privacy. In this course you’ll start by learning how to build simple electronic devices. We’ll then read relevant texts and discuss the ethical implications inherent in technological innovation, as well as the impact these inventions have on society. You’ll then address the shortcomings of your device and research methods to fix it. Finally, you’ll present your findings to the class. This course is suitable for non-science majors and non-engineering majors. Only open to sophomores. (Sophomore Year Seminar (SYS))
