BIO 221 - Ecology (1)Ecology is the study of connections among individuals and species, and with their abiotic environment. Modern ecology includes natural history observations, but also integrates evolutionary thinking, biology, geology, behavior, physiology, physics, chemistry and many other fields. We will use a combination of field observations/research, lectures, reading and writing to explore various aspects of ecology. By examining both local patterns and distant examples at different scales, we will quite literally gain a view of the trees, the forest, and the surrounding landscape. Prerequisites: BIO 142 (Science)
