• CSC 151 - Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science (1)
• MAT 122 - Calculus of Several Variables (1)
• MAT 221 - Linear Algebra (1)
• STA 347 - Mathematical Statistics I (1)
• STA 348 - Mathematical Statistics II (1)

Teaching Certification:

Students who are interested in pursuing K-12 certification to teach social studies should seek admission to the Teacher Education Program. See the Education  department section for application and certification information.

Concentrations:

A combination of courses from several disciplines may be used as a basis for advanced training in law, government service, and a number of other professional programs. The Department will assist students in selecting interdisciplinary programs for special purposes, e.g., with the other social sciences and natural sciences for environmental studies, and with history and politics for international studies.

Quantitative Skills:

For basic skills, majors should take CSC 131 - The Beauty and Joy of Computing (1)  and MAT 121 - Calculus of a Single Variable (1) . For strong graduate school preparation in either economics or business, students should take CSC 140 - Foundations of Computer Science (1) , MAT 121 - Calculus of a Single Variable (1) , MAT 122 - Calculus of Several Variables (1) , MAT 221 - Linear Algebra (1) , and possibly STA 347  and STA 348 - Mathematical Statistics II (1) .
