Requirements

A minimum of nine course credits from at least four departments participating in the Latin American Studies program; no more than three such courses may be in any one department. A study experience in a Latin American country is strongly recommended. Currently there are Cornell-sponsored courses in Mexico, Bolivia, and Guatemala. The requirements are:

SPA 301 - Advanced Grammar and Composition (1) or equivalent in Portuguese
OR
SPA 302 - Advanced Conversation Abroad (1)
HIS 141 - Latin American History (1)
OR
LAS 141 - Introduction to Latin American Studies (1)
LAS 487 - Senior Thesis (1)

Six Courses Selected from the Following:

ANT 205 - The Maya (1)
ANT 256 through ANT 260 - Topics in Anthropology when the subject matter deals specifically with Latin America
ANT 356 through ANT 361 - Advanced Topics when the subject matter deals specifically with Latin America
ART 278 - Topics in Art History (1)
