ART 277 - Topics: Arts of the Diaspora: Africans and Jews (1)

This class investigates artists of African and Jewish descent during the 18th and 19th centuries. By exploring the artistic exchanges and shared histories between these two minoritarian populations, students will analyze what it means to live in the diaspora. Besides examining actual artworks, the class will also examine the problems associated with collecting and exhibiting African and Jewish art. [AH]
