ART 221 - Topics: Illustration (1)ART 221 is an introduction to the fundamentals of character design, investigating different methods and approaches to creating compelling characters from initial concept sketches to fully realized designs. Students will explore the core principles of character design, including, silhouette, proportion, and expression, while learning how to infuse personality and emotion into their illustrations. Course activities will examine and determine influences of visual storytelling, paying attention to how shapes, color palettes, and clothing choices communicate traits and narratives. Students will develop a deeper understanding of how to approach character creation with intent and clarity through lectures, demonstrations, independent research, and critiques Prerequisites: ART 103 , ART 104 , ART 115 , or ART 200 .
