ART 217 - Topics: Color Theory (1)

An introduction to color’s powerful and communicative role in art and design. Through a cross disciplinary approach, students will engage with both socio-cultural and scientific approaches to understanding color theory. Topics include optical mixing, relativity, additive vs. subtractive methods, and other concepts pertinent to color interaction. In addition to technical approaches students will research and engage with the practices of contemporary artists who use color as a primary means of expression. Prerequisites: ART 103 , ART 104 , ART 115 , or ART 200   This course has an additional materials fee listed in self-service. No alternate grade option. [SA]
