STA 502 - Capstone Preparation (1/4)

Students will be matched with an advisor from the Applied Statistics faculty and spend the semester working through the process of choosing a topic for their Senior Capstone Project in Statistics.  This will involve identifying a problem, finding appropriate data, and beginning an appropriate analysis.  Several topics may be explored before settling on the final topic, and the final topic must be approved by the advisor.  Common readings from the current literature in statistics may be assigned.  This adjunct course must be taken over Terms 1-4.  Students will meet with the instructor and/or advisor for approximately 2.5 hours per block.  Students will also work individually on the projects throughout the semester will meet with their advisor on the project.  The total time commitment will not exceed 10 hours per block. Prerequisite(s): Permission of department.
