MUS 200 - Tradition and Innovation in Society through the Arts and Humanities (SYS) (1)In this Second-Year-Seminar we will look at traditions and innovations/technologies with a critical eye, using moral philosophy, technology essays/critiques, music, literature/novel, films, and utopic and dystopic works and ideas. These approaches will provide lenses for our examinations. The organizing terms “tradition and innovation” are to be a helpful springboard that launches us into critical thinking, creative thinking, discussion, etc. The final outcome of this will be a Final Major Group Project that investigates and problematizes a particular question, topic, etc., proposes possible solutions, and presents this work: 1) in a final major paper, 2) in large Poster Form, 3) in a class presentation that includes your Poster and questions from the audience (our class), and 4) at the Final SYS Showcase, which will include the Poster, your describing your work to visitors, your answering of these visitors’ questions. Only open to sophomores. (Sophomore Year Seminar (SYS)) (Humanities)
