ECB 510 - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program I (1/4)

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a national IRS sponsored program that provides free preparation of federal and state tax returns for households with income less than $60,000. To get well prepared as a certified volunteer at VITA during the tax season in the following spring, students in this course will receive 10 training sessions during Block 1-3 (each including about 1 hour of self-study and 1 contact hour with the instructors). In Block 4, students will have 2-3 training sessions from the United Way/ VITA (each for about 7 hours) in Cedar Rapids. The training prepares students for the IRS certification exams to prepare for the role of volunteer tax preparer.
