MAT 504 - Algebra Essentials for Calculus (1/4)This course supports students in developing the necessary strategies and reasoning skills needed to succeed in the MAT 119-120 sequence. Students will meet with the instructor in one 2-hour session each of the first three weeks of three consecutive blocks in a semester, and will have between 1.25 and 1.5 hours of work for each hour of class meetings, for a total of between 40.5 and 45 work hours. Topics include but are not limited to real and complex numbers; algebra foundations; polynomials and factoring; rational exponents; roots and radicals; linear equations and inequalities; quadratic equations; and graphing. Each block will include individual meetings with students to assess their current level and diagnose issues.
