POL 105 - Topics: Combating Human Trafficking: Politics and Policy (1)

This course will provide an introduction to the global phenomenon of human trafficking. We will look at the history of the anti-trafficking movement and the role of politics in shaping the modern framework for combating this crime. We will examine the different forms of exploitation experienced by victims and survivors and the different factors that increase vulnerability, including emerging challenges such as climate change and advancing technology. This course will utilize case studies and stories from survivors to analyze different responses to human trafficking from government, civil society, and the private sector in various countries, including the United States.
