HIS 106 - Three Great Presidents (W) (1)

George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt deserve recognition as the three greatest presidents in U.S. history. Each responded to a national crisis and, in doing so, reshaped the economy, politics, and society of the country. This seminar will use biographies and primary sources to understand their many successes, any frustrations, and the lessons for us today. Students will write several papers with the goal of constructing well-organized arguments supported by evidence. There will be a particular focus on sentence construction, effective paragraphs, and revision. Not open to students who have previously completed a First-Year Writing Course.
