BIO 215 - Botany (1)

An introduction to the structure and diversity of plants from ecological and evoluationary perspectives, with an emphasis on field identification of flowering plants. By observing plans in natural and human-developed habitats and in the lab, students will become familiar with the major local plant families and their characteristics and gain awareness of the ecological importance of native and introduced plants in Iowa ecosystems. One or more field trips may extend beyond normal class hours. Prerequisite: BIO 142
