KIN 325 - Health Education Methods (1)An introduction to curriculum development, instruction, and assessment in health education as guided by the Iowa’s and National Health Education Standards and Performance Indicators for preK-12. This participatory course primarily focuses on utilization of current local data and policy to develop, practice, and achieve proficiency in skills related to chosen health and well-being needs/topics. Students will explore their own health and well-being needs through personal behavior change projects. Students will further demonstrate proficiency in curriculum delivery and reflective learning through group advocacy projects to be presented to an audience of choice (e.g., preK-12 schools, college campuses, community centers, etc.). Students will need to provide their own transportation to their public school practicum. Prerequisites: Sophomore Standing, Admission to Teacher Education Program, Permission of Instructor. (Social Science) (Writing Intensive)
