ART 200 - Memes, Art, and Internet Culture (SYS) (1)

This course investigates our role as both consumers and contributors to the ever-changing landscape of internet culture. Viewing the web through the lens of visual art, we will cover an array of topics including the development of the internet, a history of net art, the meme, and the societal impacts of digital communities and content creation. The format of this course will include lectures, readings, discussions, papers and some studio art production. This class is intended for students who have an interest in digital media and visual art. Only open to sophomores.
