EDU 360 - Reading Assessment, Diagnosis, and Evaluation (1)This course will examine reading assessment theory, materials and procedures. The foundational concepts of reading assessment, diagnosis and evaluation will be developed. Additionally, the uses of reading assessment and the communication of reading assessment results will be emphasized. Students will engage in a variety of reading assessments with two elementary students that are valid and reliable so as to make on-going instructional changes and to maintain successful classroom literacy practice. results will be emphasized. DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MAJOR. Prerequisites: Admittance to the Teacher Preparation Program/Education Department (during the sophomore year) and either EDU 318 - Methods of Elementary Language Arts and Reading (1) or EDU 319 - Children’s Literature (1) or with permission of instructor. Alternate years.
