GEO 260 - GIS (Geographic Info Systems) (1)

Geographic Information Systems. Introduction to GIS as a tool for mapping and manipulation of spatial data, with particular emphasis on the use of GIS in the natural and social sciences. Involves both hands-on collection of data and a discussion of the architecture of established data sets. Integrated lecture and laboratory assignments are complemented by an end-of-class project tailored to the discipline of interest of each student (e.g., archaeology, biology, economics, geology, politics, or sociology). No prior coding or computer expertise is required.
