HIS 106 - Declarations of Independence (W) (1)

This course will examine the origins and nature of three expressions of advancing liberty in American history – the Declaration of Independence (1776), the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions (1848), and the Emancipation Proclamation (1863). Students will write several papers with the goal of constructing well-organized arguments supported by evidence. There will be a particular focus on sentence construction, effective paragraphs, and revision. Not open to students who have previously completed a First-Year Writing Course.
